PLEASE POST INSTALL OR DOWNLOAD ISSUES UNDER HERE

A number of members are posting bulletins above download and install issues.

You need to advise such members that they need to post their problems here in the forum.

Staff need to know what difficulties you may have and they don't read your bulletins...!!!

You can get help unless you approach the right people for that help.

Please post those queries under here and they will be answered, by someone who is able to assist.

I can't deal with these problems here - send me a PM - tell me which O/S you have [XP or Vista] and an outline of the problem you are experiencing.

I will try my best to help, but I don't read minds and I am not into miracles this week...Smile

Moved this from Bugs - Hope this is the right place:
I downloaded and installed the new version. But when I start the program, it says "update successful" then goes to the login page - which disappears after a few seconds without even getting to the prompt for my password, and I'm back to my regular desktop.

Anyone else with this problem? I saw a post from Friday and it had no answer.

You have a conflict in the exe file.

I suggest that you un-install all the Utherverse directory manually and also the client from your control panel.

Then download the installer again and re-install [http://download.redlightcenter.com/SetupFiles/Live/UtherverseClient.exe]

You should then have a clean install and apart from maybe a few seconds update it will run for you

Download and installation was ok as far as I can tell. When I double click the client, it goes to a patch download box which does nothing. I tried closing and starting again but it's totally frozen. I left it for half an hour, and still nothing Sad

Claire, see my post to BiBoos and follow the instruction there...the second download you do will be fine...takes a while but faster than the last one and won't stick..Smile

Hi Guys,

I have put a download for the new install onto my own site.

If you PM me I will give you the details.

Sorry about the broken and missing links referred to above, this is not of my doing.

OK, I dnld the new file and ran it. It dnld fast and began the install normaly. Then it slowed to a crawl. In four goes at it it never went beyond 34 % and that took many hours. I restarted the process again this morning at aprox 6am. It is now 7:17 pm and its still at 34 % It is running cause every so often the numbers change...{go up}.

Not that we all havent seen this kind of nonsense from RLC before but is there a fix for this crap? Im running half a gig of DDR ram on a P4 as well as more built into my graphics card. As an old timer here and a shop owner it might be nice to see the changes I was promised 10 months ago to my shop as well as the other changes I payed for in january. Itll be christmas before it installs at this rate.

I noticed several other poeple posted about this same problem but while they were told in one thread to take it here, their and my problem hasnt yet been adressed.

AND THE MANUAL uninstall makes NO differerence the same stuff happens: an error saying that the plug-in library needs to be rebuilt and then that the patcher.exe is misssing

IS ANYONE IN RLC listening?

Well great! Now that Ive deleted the old RLC installation and tried two more times to install the new, I'm no closer. It still seems to run interminably slow. We're talking Many hours here to get even a third of the way through. Ive been up and down checking my end and nothing seems to` be wrong.

So what gives? Who else is having this issue? Is it even being looked at by our intrepid {if excruciatingly slow} build team?

Hi Ken,

I had a similar problem, on another test box that I was using to check whether there was a problem with the new client and Nvidia graphics cards and came across a similar problem to the last line of your debug.log output which I have quoted the applicable line below.
Cobra to his credit came back to me with some suggestions the same day, he was saying that he thought that somehow some of the resources required by the client had either not been installed or downloaded correctly and thus some of the game was missing..
He asked me to try removing the client from the 'Add/Remove Programs' control panel applet.
And then removing the directory in which is was installed.
I have to say that this was successful, and the reinstall of the new client took place in less than 5 minutes..
Try that out and Pm me, or otherwise hit me up and we'll see if we can make some progress on this one.
cheers,
-JD

Well, jamie, and cobra, That solution would be wonderful, except I'm on Vista, and the stupid folder won't let my admin account delete the folder, saying I need admin permissions, which I have, being the one and only admin account on the fucking computer.

So, What now? lol

[Update]

Ok, I got it to delete the folder finally. Smile Seems that for some stupid reason, a reboot is required to remove certain items in that folder. Why? Who knows. But it was.

So now I just try to reinstall it?

Ok. This is getting old.

Again I have installed, this time using the file I gathered from Kewlfox.

Again, NO GO!

I have the exact same problem coming up in the debug log.

=========== Video Card Info =============
.\VisFont.cpp(629) : Unable to load Console.vft from D:\Program Files\Utherverse Digital Inc\Utherverse 3D Client\resources\Console.vft

So, why in the hell is this file not installing?

What other files are missing? In the resources, I have only 3 folders and 1 file. So, it seems that my installation is AGAIN totally blown.

[please note: This is on a Vista Home Premium install]

I have been unable to succesfully dl the client , it generally stopping at 63 to 80% and just hanging; this despite turning off all updates, instant AV, AS, inbstant messages, and FW.
I did discover that Windows defender has files for events. This is the most current (D/L attempt #23) stopping at 63% after 3 hours.

Windows defender may of course be the culprit and I will turn that off next but the dozens of failures of the client.exe, the setup.exe and the installer are listed.

Is this of any use?
